During the end of the year, people often experience more stress than usual. There are many reasons for this increased feeling of stress. The holidays, for starters, approaches and means stores are more crowded, plans and preparations need to be made, and presents need to be bought.

If you want to ward off that unwanted burden of stress, check out these great tips that are said to relieve stress.

1. Start a Journal

Oftentimes just getting something off your chest that's been bothering you is enough to make you feel more at ease. What better way to purge the stressful and negative energy than to write about it? Use your journal as a way to vent and express your frustrations. After you have it all on paper, move forward and leave all those bad thoughts and feelings behind. If you don’t like to write the old fashioned way, try typing your journal on your computer or tablet. You will love how you can walk away from all that is stressing you out.

2. Stretch and Practice Yoga

A great way to lessen your stress is to make sure you take care of your body and the health of it. A great and effective way to take good care of your body is to stretch every morning when you get out of bed for the day. It’s also a beneficial idea to give yoga a try! Incorporating yoga into your routine will help to relax not only your muscles, but also your mind.

3. Schedule “Fun Time” for Yourself

Whether it’s getting together with friends and going out to dinner, watching your favorite television show, or painting, find something you enjoy doing and make time for it! Sometimes people become so caught up in their work and family schedules that the fun activities they once participated in lose a spot in their lives.

4. Eat Healthier

When stress hits, it’s fairly common that people turn to comfort food. And while this is not a bad thing to do every once in awhile, making a habit of it can be. Make sure your body is being fed the appropriate and essential nutrients. Add fruits and vegetables to your diet! If you incorporate healthy foods into your diet and cut out the junk food, not only will you feel better, but you will also not feel as tense and stressed as you did when you had an unhealthy diet.
