Some women like using natural products on their hair because it makes them feel more a part of nature.

Other women prefer it for less esthetic reasons, and more out of a sense of self-preservation.

For the women who are ultra-sensitive to chemicals or who are concerned about unregulated ingredients in personal care products, the kitchen is a surprising, yet great place to go.

Hit the fridge for egg yolks, which benefit dry hair and reduce the tendency of dandruff. Egg yolk also contains fatty acids that bring greater shine and manageability to your hair.

Then, try opening your cupboard doors and taking out the vinegar. Both white and apple cider vinegar are effective rinses when you mix them with water. Also, tangles will come out more easily after a vinegar rinse. You'll find your hair will also be glossier after the vinegar-rinse washes out the residue from your scalp and from your shampoo. (Just be sure to rinse thoroughly to get rid of the vinegar smell.)

If you have olive oil or coconut oil in your kitchen, congratulations! These are healthy additions to your diet. They are also great in your hair. Dry or damaged hair, dandruff or a scaly scalp, will respond to their moisturizing effects.

Massage either one of these oils into your hair and scalp and then wash your hair as you normally would with shampoo.

Whenever you use any type of oil, you only need to use a small amount. More is not better! If you use too much, it can leave your hair greasy and weighted down.

Mayonnaise can also be used as a good weekly conditioner. Wrap your head in a shower cap or, if none is at-hand, plastic wrap will do the trick. When you are ready to rinse the mayonnaise out, make sure you shampoo afterwards.
