Rice is a delicious staple that goes with just about anything. With a 2:1 ratio of water to rice, you can make a yummy meal in just twenty minutes.

But did you know you can do something with the water you cook it in, too?

Rinsing your hair or washing your face with cooked rice water is one of the oldest ways to get your skin and hair looking and feeling beautiful. It’s also a great energy drink!

It’s full of vitamins and minerals, and can serve as:

  • a facial cleanser, to be massaged all over the face with a cotton ball
  • an acne spot treatment, to soothe the inflammation caused by an outbreak, as well as to tighten the pores
  • an eczema treatment, to apply to the affected skin and reduce inflammation
  • a hair rinse once or twice a week after shampooing, to keep hair healthy and add shine
  • a hair conditioner. Just add rosemary oil to your rice water solution, apply to hair, and let sit for ten minutes before rinsing.
  • a healthy drink. Just cook the rice instead of soaking it and drink away!

And it’s so easy! All you need is:

  • ½ cup of uncooked rice
  • 2 cups of water

Then you place the rice in a bowl and pour the water in with it. After the rice soaks for 30 minutes, knead the rice so that the water turns cloudy. Strain rice water with a colander, and store it in a clean container for your use.

And that’s it! Now you can use rice water for whatever you need!

What would you use rice water for?
