Studies have found that we eat more on the weekends, which can sabotage our scale when the week begins.
The scale found that when we lose weight, we lose most of it between Tuesday and Friday—the work week, basically—and tend to fluctuate more when we hit that indulgent weekend.
I mean, think about it. The weekends are the time to go out with friends, bake cookies, sleep more than you usually would, cook more, have Sunday brunch, basically celebrate the time you have off. So why wouldn’t you gain weight?
So if indulgent weekends are what you work for, go for it. Just know that it will pack on a few more pounds than you expect. Try measuring your weight loss between Tuesday and Friday only, and see if that makes a difference in how you feel about your weight loss.

If you know that these weekends are sabotaging you, try spacing out your rewards. Instead of packing them all in in a two-day period, try giving yourself an indulgent behavior or food every other day. It may seem like you’re doing more weight-damaging things, but it’s actually better to space out your cheating into your week, rather than doing it all at once. This allows your body to adjust to burning off fat and calories no matter what day of the week it is.
