It seems like every day, there are more and more “studies” coming out about some new health benefit for a food we didn't know was healthy. While there are plenty of studies to be wary about, here are some studies that could mean amazing futures for some of our favorite foods.

Eggs could help you absorb nutrients. That egg that you put on your salad may have more benefits than you think. A recent study showed that eggs may have properties that help you absorb nutrients from vegetables. Mind you, it’s the egg yolk, not the egg white that has this effect, and it’s because the healthy fats in eggs are what help you digest these nutrients. So next time you get an egg on your salad, don’t pick it off.

Red wine is good for your gut, and could help you burn fat. We already know that red wine (in moderation) is probably pretty good for your heart, but it may also be great for feeding your gut bacteria. A very recent, preliminary study could show that red wine could help you better metabolize fat and sugar, too. An alcohol that actually helps you burn fat? Fingers crossed that this one turns out to be true.

Pickles could get rid of your social anxiety. Well, the probiotics in pickles could do that. Studies have shown that probiotics can keep you from dwelling on bad experiences, and could help those with social anxiety to feel less anxious.

Chocolate could be good for your brain. Those who ate 100 grams of chocolate scored better on memory tests than those who didn’t eat a lot of chocolate. But that’s a lot of chocolate, which means that the brain health possibilities may not be worth the physical health risks.

If these studies show one thing, it's that scientists want our favorite foods to be healthy just as much as we do. Whether or not that turns out to be true, these studies are definitely something to look forward to.
