Everyone has a skin type, of course. But do you know what that skin type says about you, and what your skin needs from you?

Ayurveda may have all of your answers. The Ayurvedic method of skincare requires you to look at your skin as a measure of balance, not just as a series of imperfections.

You could be one of these three skin types. Which one are you?

Pitta skin: Pittas have fire as their dominating element, meaning that they have fiery personalities and they’re prone to heartburn and other forms of inflammation. A pitta’s skin is prone to rosacea, broken capillaries, eczema, or age spots. They have combination skin. If this sounds like you, try treating our skin with chamomile or aloe vera.

Kapha skin: This earth-dominated type is solid and reliable, which means that their body resists change. Weight gain and fluid retention are their main problems. Their skin type tends to be thick, and oily, with large pores and breakouts that tend to be cystic and painful. If this sounds like you, make sure you exfoliate often and have plenty of invigorating foods, like ginseng and caffeine.

Vata skin: These people are dominated by the air element, which makes them creative but worrisome types. Their skin is dry and thin, with non-inflammatory breakouts and risk for flaking in dry air. Because their skin is so dry, they need extra moisture. If this sounds like you, look for plant-based, fatty oils like avocado and coconut oils for moisturization.

Now you're ready to take good care of your skin!
