Antibiotics are overprescribed and overused. It’s too easy to develop resistances to these pills now that we’ve made them so widely used. They destroy your digestive tract and lower your immunity to infections.
Luckily, there are natural remedies that are great infection fighters, and that you can use without the damage to your digestive tract.
- Oregano Oil. This stuff is great for killing off pathogenic bacteria without getting in the way of the good stuff. It’s also antiviral AND antifungal. If you’re going to try out this stuff, make sure it says that at least 70% of the oil is carvacrol content. This is the active antimicrobial ingredient in oregano oil and it isn’t effective without it.
- Cayenne pepper. Though it may seem counterintuitive, this spicy stuff has been known for its health benefits for hundreds of years. One of its uses is fighting inflammation and infection, and it’s actually known to be great for ear infections.
- Grapefruit seed extract (GSE). This stuff is naturally antimicrobial, so it’s great for infection. It kills a ton of germs, and like oregano oil, it leaves the good stuff alone. It’s tough on pathogens, like bacteria and yeast.
- Turmeric. This spice Is the latest in superfoods, but its original use was for resolving infection. It’s naturally antibacterial and can be directly applied or ingested in order to fight infection in wounds.
