If you’ve been trying to be healthier by eating turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, it may be time to take a break from it.
Unfortunately, 84,000 cases of turkey bacon were just recalled by Heinz, Kraft’s parent company.
This announcement comes after reports that it was causing food poisoning among consumers and spoiling before its “best by” date.
Kraft Heinz spokesman Michael Mullen made this official statement to the Huffington Post:
“The Kraft Heinz Company is voluntarily withdrawing approximately 84,000 cases of select code dates and manufacturing codes of Oscar Meyer Turkey Bacon due to the possibility that some product may spoil before the ‘Best When Used By’ date.
“Although this premature spoilage is not a food safety issue, the affected product may not deliver the high quality taste, texture, and appearance our consumers expect from Oscar Meyer. We regret this situation and apologize to everyone we have disappointed.”
