Oh, corseting. It’s just one of those things that you’d never imagine would come back after people figured out that it pushed all of our organs out of place (and sometimes out of our bodies).

But no, “waist training” is on the rise again, promoted by Kim Kardashian, among others. It’s purely for looks, since it doesn’t claim to do anything to help you lose weight. All it does is “train” your waist to stay where it is after you wear it.

Most people who waist train have a custom fit trainer, and only do it for an hour or two at a time. But this infomercial product, Miss Belt, tries to pass off waist training as an everyday event with their product. BuzzFeed dug up this video about it, and it's pretty ridiculous.

All it does is wrap around your midsection, then further compress it into itself. Which, hey, if you feel like having someone compress your ribcage and internal organs to get an “hourglass shape,” then go for it.

But a lot of these “results” seem like they’re the fault of a bad Photoshop job.

And if someone does absolutely have to waist train, it definitely shouldn’t be done with a one-size-fits-all product. And if you are waist training, it's never a good idea to wear it while exercising.

Of course, several women are outraged. The comments on the video range from “destroying hundreds of years of women’s history in two full infomercial minutes” to “the ad for Miss Belt is the most horrifying thing ever. Where the h*** do your internal organs go???”

It’s better off just to leave your organs where they are.
