Are you guilty of calorie counting?
Maybe you picked it up through a weight loss plan, or maybe you just felt like your junk food intake was a little out of control and you wanted to keep a hold on it.
But whatever the reason you start it, it eventually ends up feeling like it runs your life.
What if you were to just trust your own ability to know that you’re choosing good foods (a skill you probably learned from counting calories) and stop counting every calorie you eat?
Here are just a few benefits to not focusing your day around your meals.
- You won’t feel like you need to snack. When you focus on your foods, not your calories, you’ll start to eat more mindfully. You really think about what you’re eating and why you’re eating it. And by default, whole foods that are better for you will fill you up more, since fruits, veggies, and whole proteins have the nutrients you need to sustain you through the day without needing to snack.
- You’ll actually lose weight. Counting calories requires ridiculous feats just to eat. For foods that don’t have nutrition facts written on them, you actually have to weigh your food. In the end, often you just default to packaged foods, since their nutritional facts are much easier to read. Start eating foods you know are good for you, and you’ll feel fuller, and you won’t be eating as many calorie-adding refined carbs.
- Eating won’t be a chore anymore. Meal planning, calorie counting, all of these things make eating just another source of stress. Eating fresh, whole foods without worrying about whether or not it’s ten calories over your limit will make life easier and make eating into something you enjoy again.
