Rodney Colley, 23, woke up one morning just like any other. But this morning, there was something different.

When he looked at his armpit that Sunday morning, he found something that he described as looking like “a diaper rash” forming under his armpit.

Like the best of us do, he went about his day, expecting it to eventually heal. But the next morning, it appeared to have gotten worse.

“I got out of the shower on Monday morning and it felt like my armpit was on fire. So I looked in the mirror and sure enough the skin around it started scabbing,” Rodney told IJ.com

Rodney has been a loyal user of Old Spice deodorants. But this was the first time he’d ever purchased Old Spice: Pure Sport High Endurance Deodorant.

But he wasn’t the first victim of this deodorant.

Several people online have reported that they’ve been given chemical burns by this deodorant, similar to the ones that Rodney received. Many have also experienced allergic reactions to it. One man, Michael Smith, posted a YouTube video about his experiences with the deodorant, and comments backed up his experiences with stories of their own.

On a popular consumer product website called “Consumer Affairs,” Old Spice only has 1.7 out of 5 stars. Many of their products have complaints, having suffered from allergic reactions like dermatitis or chemical burns.

This man had only used Old Spice once before it caused chemical burns.

Though this appears to be a widespread and well-documented problem, the company has not responded to these complaints or released any statements regarding it.
