A 19-year-old makeup artist claims she’s so addicted to vinegar that she carries a bottle in her purse at all times, just in case she gets a craving.

Ella Ruby Ginn has been drinking vinegar like it’s water for as long as she can remember, even as a young child.

In fact, Ginn’s cabinets are fully stocked with all kinds of vinegar, especially her all-time favorites, like malt and apple cider.

“Once I was round my nan's and I got them out and started drinking them - she had a right go at me, she said it would burn my stomach lining,” Ginn said, according to The Daily Mail. “I don't care though, I just love the taste. It's really sour, but I love it - my favourite bit is when it burns in my chest.”

“I always sip it - I've tried to glug it down in one but that hurts,” she added. “I've always liked sour things - when I drink it it makes my jaw feel funny, I like that feeling.”

Because she’s too embarrassed to order a glass of malt vinegar from a restaurant, Ginn always carries it with her when she’s on the go.

Although she used to drink a glass of malt vinegar a day, Ginn says she’s switched to apple cider vinegar since losing more than 40 pounds last year.

While many health experts have touted apple cider vinegar as a miracle elixir that has the power to fight cravings, aid in digestion, and suppress appetite, nutritionists do believe its high acidity could pose serious consequences later.

“Vinegar consumed in small amounts is unlikely to cause harm in most people, however the long term effects of drinking large amounts of vinegar regularly are unclear,” said Helena Gibson-Moore, a nutrition scientist at the British Nutrition Foundation. “Vinegar is known for its acidic properties so it is advised that people who have acid reflux should avoid vinegar. In addition drinking acidic drinks regularly is associated with dental erosion.”

Despite the negative criticism Ginn has heard about her strange addiction, she has no plans to cut back on vinegar any time soon.

“It does shock people when they find out - I get a lot of weird looks,” she said. “It won't stop me though - I can never get enough vinegar.”
