Nowadays people use baking soda for just about everything, from cleaning the bathroom and polishing their teeth to soothing painful sunburns and relieving itchy bug bites.

Seriously, baking soda is a definite must-have to keep around the house, even if you’ve never made a baked good in your life.

Lately beauty and makeup bloggers have been talking about another one of baking soda’s amazing benefits: eliminating dark under eye circles!

That’s right—baking soda is a quick fix when you need to get rid of those dark puffy under eye circles fast.

In a new tutorial, beauty blogger Darshika Patel advises viewers to spread baking soda (mixed with water) under their eyes using a cold spoon.

"Alternatively, you can use your fingers," Patel said. "But I find that [the spoon] is colder and it's probably better for your skin around the eyes."

"You'll also find that applying it with a spoon makes it very smooth, and it won't drag the baking soda along the skin; rather, it just places it and disperses it without hurting the skin around your eyes at all," she added.

Like Patel suggests in the video below, you should only leave the baking soda paste on for about 5-10 minutes before wiping it off with a baby wipe.

While baking soda can quickly brighten your under eye circles, it takes at least two or three times to really notice a difference in your skin.
