A bizarre video that seems to show surgeons removing no less than 20 toothbrushes from a patient’s stomach has gone viral online.
Nobody knows where the extremely graphic footage was taken, but many commenters have been quick to point out that the surgeons in the video are speaking Spanish.
The cringe-worthy clip begins with the surgeons cutting into their patient’s stomach to reveal a heap of brightly colored toothbrushes.
According to The Daily Mail, the doctors in the video counted about 18 toothbrushes total, though they never reveal how an individual could possibly swallow so many.
Once the stomach-churning video went viral on YouTube, some viewers suggested that the patient may suffer from a pica eating disorder.
The relatively rare disorder causes people to crave items that aren’t actually edible—dirt, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.
If left untreated, pica can easily prove to be very dangerous, even deadly.
"I sit here counting and laughing at this, but seriously he's one of those people who can't stop swallowing things,” one viewer commented on YouTube. "But can you imagine swallowing your toothbrush?"
