The Quaker Oats Company has issued an emergency recall of the company’s Quinoa Granola Bars, due to concerns of Listeria contamination.

While The Quaker Oats Company, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, Inc., claims there have been no reports of illness yet, they are reportedly issuing the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”

According to a spokesperson from the Chicago-based company, an ingredient supplier was found to have distributed sunflower kernels that may have been contaminated by Listeria.

Fortunately, most of the potentially contaminated products sold by Quaker never made their way to store shelves, but some of the following granola bars have been recalled:

  • 1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Chocolate Nut Medley with UPC code 3000032241 and Best Before Dates of: 10/16/2016, 10/17/2016
  • 1 ounce boxes of Quaker Quinoa Granola Bars Yogurt, Fruit & Nut with UPC 3000032243 and Best Before Dates of: 10/10/2016, 10/11/2016

In most cases, Listeria is relatively harmless to the average healthy individual, but small children and elderly adults are more susceptible to negative reactions, such as:

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Stiffness
  • Headache
  • High Fever
  • Miscarriage Among Pregnant Women
