Fitness blogger, Tiffany Brien recently took to Facebook to set the record straight: Everyone and anyone can suffer from bad bloating problems.
Brien took two photos of her stomach on her cell phone and posted both shots, side by side, on Facebook. “These two photos are 12 hours apart, left before bed and right when I woke up...” she wrote in the post.
“We are not at all what we seem on social media,” she continues, “I thought I would share a bad day with you to show you nobody is ‘perfect’ and it is ok to have an off day where your body just decides to not play ball.”
Brien spends the rest of the post talking about her own struggles with stomach bloating. The cause, even for a fitness blogger and health nut like her, is not always clear. She describes how she keeps track of all the food she eats in a day, but sometimes still can’t catch the culprit.
Stomach bloating isn’t always caused by food. Stress, sleep, and hormone changes can all also affect the size of your stomach – and these factors aren’t as easily documented as the food we eat. Brien even goes as far as saying although she has figured out which foods have caused her bloating troubles in the past, the way her body reacts to this list of food – and other foods – is always changing. Food that never caused her bloating problems in the past might do so the next time she has it.
Unfortunately, stomach bloating is a common problem for many people (particularly women), and many can get pulled down because they’re self-conscious of the way they look. Brien ends her post by reassuring everyone that they aren’t alone, and promising that although the struggle is difficult, there are surefire ways to tackle and conquer this problem in the future.
