Kellogg Company has announced that it is voluntarily recalling several different products, including Keebler cookies and snacks.
According to an announcement by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, multiple varieties of Keebler, Kellogg's Special K brownies, Murray, Mother's and Famous Amos snacks and cookies are being recalled due to possible contamination of peanut residue.
This accident is especially concerning for parents of children who have severe peanut allergies, given that these snacks are supposed to be peanut-free.
Kellogg immediately decided to issue the recall after learning that its supplier, Grain Craft, recalled wheat flour that has the potential to contain low levels of peanut residue.
While consumers with serious peanut allergies have been advised not to consume any of the recalled products, the company has also noted that the level of peanut residue in the snacks is extremely low.
