A popular New York writer attempting to strengthen her pelvic muscles ended up burning the inside of her vagina while using Kegel-enhancing eggs.
32-year-old Rebecca Jane Stokes, who recently wrote an essay for YourTango, says she was thrilled to started using her Kegel-enhancing eggs immediately after she cleaned them.
“I decided it would be a good idea to strength train my vagina prior to meeting my current bedfellow, Buddy,” she explained in the essay.
While many ladies do Kegels without the help of tools—by tensing and relaxing the muscles inside the vagina—yoni eggs and ben wa balls are becoming extremely popular for tightening the muscles.
After ordering a kit from Etsy, Stokes was more than ready to try out her stone eggs, which came in various sizes.
Once she cleaned the marble eggs in boiling water for a few minutes, Stokes was all set to get started.
“I treated them pretty much like you would treat an actual egg you were boiling. They went for about 4-5 minutes. I waited another 4-5 before using them,” she told Daily Mail Online. “This was foolhardy.”
Since the eggs felt warm to the touch once she let them cool, Stokes assumed they were perfectly fine to insert into her vagina—but she was oh so wrong.
“They felt warm but not abnormally so,” she began. “If anything I thought it might even be pleasant.”
Within seconds, Stokes felt like the inside of her body was completely on fire!
“Imagine sipping hot chocolate too quickly and that terrible peeling on the top of your mouth. Now imagine that there is no hot chocolate and that instead you have shoved a boiling hot marble egg up yourself for purposes of vanity,” she said.
As The Daily Mail points out, the tissue inside the vagina is far more sensitive than the skin around the fingertips, which is likely why Stokes didn’t realize how hot the stones were after taking them out of the boiling pot of water.
Although Stokes isn’t ready to give up on the Kegel-enhancing eggs just yet, she recommends using soap and warm water to clean them the next time around.
