Betty Crocker recently issued a recall out of “an abundance of caution” to ensure that none of their customers would become ill after using potentially contaminated products.
The company is recalling two of their cake mix flavors following the FDA recall on General Mills’ flour products on July 1, 2016.
Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix and Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Carrot Cake have both been recalled from shelves and stores in the United States. In Canada, a similarly named product, Betty Crocker Super Moist Rainbow Bit Cake Mix has been recalled for the same reasons.
Wondra flour, the flour that was suspected of contamination in the previous recall, was used by General Mills to create the flavor chips used in these particular mixes. Although no illnesses have been reported in direct relation to these cake mixes, both General Mills and Betty Crocker are erring on the side of caution to protect their customers.
The companies have been and are continuing to work with health officials at the FDA to investigate the root cause of the recent E. coli outbreak and contamination.
