Hummus now comes in a myriad of flavors, everything from red pepper to everything bagel, but nutritionist Makenzie Marzluff is the first to create a version of hummus for everyone with a sweet tooth.

It began when Marzluff decided to bring a healthy dessert to a friend’s party. That was when she first created a sweet hummus spread for her friends to enjoy. Everyone there loved it and compared it to actual cookie dough, which only encouraged Marzluff to continue making her hummus and bringing it to her friends to enjoy.

Not too long after, Marzluff decided that she wanted to make her dessert hummus into her full time job. That’s when her hummus company, Delighted By, was born.

Marzluff’s hummus is very similar to traditional hummus. Both have a chickpea base flavored with tahini and salt, but Marzluff uses coconut milk to make her product smoother and creamier. She then adds Turbinado sugar for the sweetness, and uses other ingredients (like orange zest or cocoa powder) to create her unique flavors.

As of now, she has four flavor choices: Brownie Batter, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Orange Ginger, and Snickerdoodle.

According to her friends – and her customers – each of the four flavors do taste like their namesake. The Brownie Batter is a little “grittier” than the actual batter you’d pour into a pan, and the Orange Ginger is similar to a Creamsicle with a ginger kick.

You can find Marzluff’s popular dessert hummus products in 44 Wegman’s stores, or find specific locations online, on her company site.
