About three months ago, Sagar Dorji, a four-year-old boy in India, began to develop an eye problem.

At first, they just swelled up and looked oddly bloodshot. After some time, Dorji began to develop blood clots in his eyes that wouldn’t go away.

Over time, his eyes began to ooze blood and had swollen to the point that they popped out of his eye sockets.

His parents are terrified, anxious, and desperate for answers.

“I don’t know what curse has befallen us,” his mother said.

Dorji has seen several doctors, but the local doctors of northeastern India cannot determine the problem. The family cannot, unfortunately, afford the more expensive state-funded treatment and tests elsewhere.

“I don’t have money to fund that,” Dorji’s father explained helplessly.

There are doctors currently treating Dorji and his condition as they would a cancer patient, but the doctors refuse to provide an explanation behind their selected treatment method.

Dorji’s father is “not happy with the treatment provided.”

“I have seen no improvement in [Dorji’s] condition since he was brought to the Guwahati hospital last week. But I have no option but to continue this treatment as I cannot afford to fund costly treatment in a bigger city…” he said.

Dorji’s mother is now appealing to “all kind-hearted people to help [her] save [her] son. Any other parents will be able to feel [her] pain.”

A social activist in the area is trying to collect funds to support the Dorji family in hopes of providing their ailing son with better support and appropriate treatment.
