In the 36th week of her pregnancy, this mother-to-be was told during her ultrasound appointment that her baby had entered the breech position.

There are a variety of breech positions, but all of these positions have the baby positioned with their feet, knees, legs, or bottom downward in their mother’s womb. The proper position for a natural, vaginal birth is where the baby is born head first, with their head positioned downward in the womb.

Although it is possible to just give birth to breech babies through C-section, some doctors are able to reposition breech babies in their mothers’ wombs before they’re due.

This is exactly what this one doctor does for this mother.

He first warns her that it will be slightly uncomfortable, and “if [she] cannot tolerate it,” then she should say so.

When she nods her consent, the doctor then begins to perform an external cephalic version (ECV), during which a breech baby is repositioned into the proper birthing position in their mother’s womb through external massaging on the mother’s belly.

In the video (recorded by the father-to-be, Liam Muckleston), you can actually see the baby’s shape moving in the mother’s womb.

It takes this incredible doctor just under two minutes to complete the entire ECV. When the procedure is finished, he takes the ultrasound machine again and confirms – the baby is now in the proper position.
