At her age, 47-year-old Judy Brown thought her body was getting ready to enter the next stage of her life. That was how she explained her growing stomach pains and belly pooch over the past several months.

When the stomach pains intensified one day, Brown asked her husband to send her to the hospital, just to make sure it wasn’t a blockage or anything serious. She imagined that it was just a particularly bad digestive issue.

Her doctor, however, was quick to spot the actual problem, “It’s good news. There’s no blockage, you’re pregnant.”

Brown and her husband had never discussed having kids, but there wasn’t any time to do so – the baby was already on its way.

An hour after Brown entered the hospital, she gave birth to her daughter, Carolyn Rose. Carolyn was eight pounds, perfectly healthy, and a complete surprise.

Brown and her husband, Jason, had already been married for 22 years – but they’d never discussed the possibility of having kids or starting a family together. They even had to borrow someone’s stroller and baby bassinet just to bring their daughter home the first day.

Although the new parents are happy to welcome their daughter to their lives, Jason has already made up his mind about future kids: “I will get the surgery before it even becomes a thought.”

He does, however, dote quite lovingly on his newborn daughter. “When she cries, I’m there,” he admitted.
