When Henry, a 20-year-old from Norfolk, first started getting lip fillers, he had no idea that he would become so obsessed with them. The procedure and its results became a sort of addiction for him.
“It looked amazing and people kept coming up to me telling me I looked gorgeous,” he explained, “Everyone knew me as Henry who got his lips done.”
This reputation and newfound confidence encouraged Henry to continue getting the procedure done, over and over again, every six weeks.
“I loved it, but then – bang – my lips actually exploded,” he recalled.
Blood and green pus came out and just wouldn’t stop oozing, despite Henry’s best efforts to staunch the flow. Although he was able to get the flow under control every so often, his lip would continue to explode – at unexpected, unpredictable moments.
One of the worst incidents, Henry remembered, was when he was getting a new phone.
“I could feel my lip starting to swell and then it started leaking, blood, pus, everything coming out of my lips and dripping onto a phone,” he describes. “The sales assistant stood there looking stunned.”
Henry is now determined to fix the problem, not just because it’s impossible to anticipate when his lip will act up again, but because “it’s ruined [his] life and now looks really ugly.”
After seeing Henry, aesthetic doctor, Dr. Esho, determined that Henry would have to have all his previous lip filler surgically removed to properly take care of the infection and ensure it wouldn’t return.
“I could tell by [Henry’s] face he didn’t realize how close he was to actually losing his lip,” Dr. Esho admitted. “After surgery he thankfully made a full recovery, but I see more and more cases like this every day…”
Henry is extremely grateful to Dr. Esho for repairing his lip and being able to regain his confidence with his restored lips. “I feel like you have magic hands,” Henry said to Dr. Esho, “you are amazing at what you do.”
