After Jasminka Velkovska was diagnosed with colon cancer, she immediately began receiving treatment at the City General Hospital September 8th in Skopje.
Velkovska’s doctors advised her to undergo surgery to remove the carcinoma.
The surgeons completely messed up.
Somehow, in their mission to remove the cancerous cells from Velkovska’s colon, the surgeons only managed to detach her colon and reattach it to somewhere different – her vagina.
The operation had been a complete failure.
During Velkovska’s recovery, her doctors asked if she was passing gas – a common side effect of colon surgery. She was, and she mentioned, “but [the gas is] coming out of my vagina.”
The doctors apparently “told [her] it would soon pass and [she] would be okay.”
Velkovska, however, reported, “Stuff had started to come out of my vagina and I was feeling scared and it was all very unpleasant.”
When these strange symptoms didn’t pass, the doctors ran a scan and discovered that yes, her colon and vagina had been tied together – and the carcinoma was still present in her body.
Velkovska immediately decided to change hospitals. She would repair the damage – and properly remove the cancerous cells – at a different medical facility.
Although it was Velkovska’s doctors and surgeons who discovered their mistake themselves, they have since been refusing to pay full compensation for Velkovska’s ordeal.
Velkovska and her lawyers are continuing to press the hospital to pay the remainder of the compensation.
If the hospital continues to avoid completing this payment, Vlekovska has full intentions to sue the hospital for their actions and their attempts to avoid taking full responsibility for her botched surgery.
