Emily Wagoner, a high school student from Beaverton, Oregon, went to a local Pita Pit restaurant for lunch when it happened.

She ordered her food and was just beginning to eat a bag of Miss Vickie’s Sea Salt & Vinegar Chips when she realized that the “pepper” seasoning on her chips were actually a bunch of dead ants.

When she realized what she had done, Wagoner naturally freaked out and complained to the store manager about her chips.

The manager, however, was surprisingly unsympathetic.

They replaced Wagoner’s bag of chips, but didn’t otherwise offer any compensation or apology.

Wagoner became even more irritated, so she took to Twitter, posting a photo of the dead ants covering her chips and saying she would “never go to pita pit ever.”

The Pita Pit Twitter account reached out to Wagoner after seeing the tweet, and offered her a $50 gift card as compensation, but Wagoner was unconvinced.

At the time of the incident, she hadn’t been compensated for her $14 meal and this delayed treatment wasn’t something she thought was appropriate or acceptable.
