Based on our social media feeds, it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one whose life doesn’t feature perfect skin, toned abs, and exotic trips. Fitness personality, Kelsey Wells, is trying to correct this assumption, one photo at a time.

Kelsey Wells, a fitness star and online personality, is perhaps best known for sharing this photo of herself at three different weights and body compositions, revealing how diet and exercise can really shape a person’s body.

Since Wells first began her own fitness journey by following Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Girl program, she’s been eager to share photos of her workouts, her body, and her transformation on her Instagram page.

More recently, however, Wells admitted to receiving a small deluge of questions from her followers, ranging from “How do you never look bloated?” to “How do you never get zits?” and “How do you not have stretch marks?”

Wells responded to these questions by first making a very important clarification: She does experience all three of these problems; she simply doesn’t post about them on Instagram.

She, like everyone else, shares only the best moments and events on social media, but this is highly unrepresentative of a person's actual life.

“…it's so important to keep it real and remember that most the images you see while scrolling (including mine) are people's "best foot forward",” she wrote in the caption of one of her photos.

“Of course I want to take photos in good lighting and show my best angles, but I never want that to be misconstrued as saying I don't have bad ones or never look bloated.”

And indeed, Wells accompanies these words by posting a photo of herself on the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend, sporting a bloated belly. “These things are totally normal,” she explained.

“I think it’s more important for everyone to realize that these things are totally normal, and nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed about,” she continued.

We so admire Wells for her confidence and intention of sharing a “less than perfect” photo of herself online to reassure everyone that even the most fit, confident, perfectly-photographed of us experience small woes like belly bloat and zits.

“The key is to spend less time picking ourselves apart and more time seeing how beautiful, amazing and miraculous our bodies are — bloating, zits, stretch marks and all,” she concluded.
