Beauty trends change every year, so it’s unsurprising that the most popular plastic surgery procedure changes in response.
For example, in 2015 when Vogue declared that having too much cleavage was no longer “fashionable,” the number of breast augmentation surgeries began to plateau.
Recently, however, the Plastic Surgery Group, a large branch of plastic surgeons in America, have come up with their predictions for what will be the most popular procedure in 2017: Nipple reduction surgery.
"We have seen a 30% rise in women requesting a smaller nipple size in the last year," the group wrote.
Consultant plastic surgeon Mo Akhavani explained the matter even further, “We found that patients with smaller-sized nipples rated [higher] in attractiveness than those with larger nipples.”
The group, however, failed to provide more details about how they came to these conclusions.
For us, we’re not quite sure we’re going to jump on this bandwagon, no matter how large it becomes. Unless there’s a medical need to alter our nipples, we’re not sure we even want to think about taking a knife so close to them just for cosmetic reasons.
