Everyone knows how rare it is to give birth to twins. That’s why Whitney Meyer and her husband Tomas Dean were so excited when they found out they were pregnant with fraternal twin girls!
However, the day the twins were born, the couple was stunned by what they saw.
Whitney had given birth to two beautiful, healthy twin girls, but they were born with different skin tones!
Fraternal twins are rare as it is (about 1 in 500), but biracial twins are pretty unique (about a 1 in 500 chance as well).
Kalani has much more fair skin and bright blue eyes like her mother, while little Jarani has darker skin and brown eyes- just like her dad.
Fraternal twins occur when two separate sperm cells fertilize two different eggs. There are not many genes responsible for skin color, so it really is all just up to chance.
These darling sisters are definitely not something you see everyday, but their parents could not be happier. Take a look at the beautiful photos of the 9-month-olds to see how uniquely special biracial twins are!
