A man was caught sending sexually explicit text messages to a 12-year-old girl. He was previously convicted of raping two teenage girls, the Metro reports.
Although he was fully aware that he was talking to an underage girl named Demi, Brett Gordon, 44 years old, continued the sexual conversation with her. Gordon allegedly urged the girl to come over at his place so that they can do “sexual things” with each other.
After a lengthy exchange of messages between the two, Gordon and the girl decided to meet at an alleyway. When Gordon showed up at their meeting place, a vigilante group composing of four members approached him.
Gordon was surprised to find out that he was actually sending sexual messages to a man posing as Demi. After being restrained by the members of the group, Gordon was eventually arrested by police officers.
He dropped to his knees, started crying, and said, “I have really f**ked myself. My life is done. I am going back to prison. I went on social media, downloaded an app and started talking, I did not know.”
After he was convicted of sexually assault involving two teenage girls back in 2007, Brett Gordon was given a new name. His former name was Brett Kaminski. Gordon was put behind bars after he was charged of raping two teenage girls, ages 18 and 19. The incidents happened within six weeks of each other, according to Metro.
Gordon was released in 2013 after serving almost six years for the crimes he committed to two teenage girls. Gordon was allowed to change his name from Brett Kaminski to Brett Gordon after submitting a deed poll in May 2014, a year after he was released.
Gordon, who lives in Hitchin, Hertsfordshire, employed social media dating and downloaded the app called Waplog. He used the app to contact Demi, who claimed that she was from London. Cambridge Crown Court heard Gordon’s case last October 2016.
Gordon’s first message to the young girl was: “Hi, beautiful, I’m Brad from Hitchin, what are you looking for?” The girl responded that she’s looking for friends to hang out with. He replied, “I am looking for really good female friends to come stay with me at my place.”
Gordon added, “We can do lots of dirty things, Hitchin is only 25 minutes on the train from King’s Cross.” For those of you who don’t live in England, have not been in England, or haven’t read the Harry Potter series, King’s Cross Station is their main and most well-known station. It’s kind of like the Grand Central Terminal.
The conversations, which continued for three days, was heard by the court as evidence. According to the text messages, Gordon said to the girl, “We can do lots of dirty things.” He also said that he would “show her what men and women do in bed to each other.”
Gordon kept on persuading the young girl to agree on having a meet-up with him. He told her, “Come to mine this weekend and we can do some sexual things in my bed.”
Gordon then asked for her number, for her Facebook page, and finally, for her body photo. He said, “Have you got a picture of your body for me?”
Judge Jonathan Cooper sentenced Gordon to four years in prison. After release, Gordon would be under the monitor in the community that would last for six years.
Judge Cooper told Gordon, “‘You are dangerous. There is a significant risk to members of the public to serious harm by the commission of further offenses by you.”
Cooper continued, “After six years of custody for serious offences committed within a short space of time you offended in this calculated and persistent way to a victim who you believed was even younger than your previous victims.”
Gordon will be registered as a sex offender for the rest of his life. He will also be held under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This order could limit his freedom when it comes to browsing the Internet. The case resulted to a debate whether specifically luring and tempting men who's more likely to be pedophiles is allowed or considered a legal way to catch a predator.
