Stacie Goddard, 22 years old, was forced to give birth to her first baby, Peter, on July 1, 2016, only 22 weeks since he was conceived, the Metro reports.
Peter suffered from a condition called renal agenesis, which means that his kidneys and lungs failed to develop accordingly. He weighed 420g, which isn't enough to fill in a bag of sugar.
Goddard and her partner Stephen Price, 28 years old, only spent 16 hours with Peter. Although he was only alive for five minutes. They took photos with their baby to commemorate the birth of their first child. He was resting in a special cooling Moses basket.
He was fully named Peter Ryan Tiberius Goddard.
The couple, who’s from Margate, are now about to have a little girl. They were thinking of a good way to let her know, when the time comes that she can understand concepts, how much Goddard and Price loved her brother.
The couple decided to post a message on Angel Parents. They asked people to write a message to Peter and take a picture. The response they received was tremendous.
Goddard said, “In a couple of days there were about 100 photos from people in Hawaii, South Africa, lots in America including from a NYPD officer, literally all over the world. The messages were so beautiful that they made me cry.”
The couple received more than 200 letters and photographs from all over the world. Goddard said that there should be more coming.
One of the letters read: “Peter, Mommy and Daddy’s love for you is so big, your memory will live forever live in Brunswick, Ohio. P.S. Fly High, Little Angel.”
Letters came from South Africa, New York, Sweden, Georgia, Michigan, Devon, Utah, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, and many more.
Goddard said, “To think that my son’s name has been written all over the world by so many people is so beautiful. I really hope it raises awareness for those who have suffered the loss of their baby.”
She added, “It is so unbelievable that we will be able to show her how her brother’s name has gone across the world and how much he was loved.”
The couple are expecting their little girl on May 10. They are hoping that their new child will know about this soon and understand that her brother will forever be with them in memory and in their hearts. They haven't thought of a name for their daughter yet.
