Bryelle Marshall, 23 years old, was charged with Battery, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and for an expired license after she was arrested for reportedly driving her vehicle like a reckless lunatic, according to the Huffington Post.
Marshall, who was driving a black Volkswagen sedan, was reported by concerned bystanders after she was caught driving recklessly in the area of Zuni Road and Pennsylvania Avenue in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Southeast Area Command officers were immediately dispatched and responded to the incident. Officers discovered the vehicle parked in a very unsafe way in the roadway of Zuni Road and a driveway to a trailer park near a concrete wall, according to the report.
Marshall, the driver and also a cheerleader, seemed like she passed out behind the wheel. Officers got her to wake up after they began speaking to her in their police authoritative voice.
Officers asked Marshall to step out of the vehicle. She appeared to be very drunk. She was stumbling and slipping like a clumsy person. Officers had a difficult time explaining to her and giving her commands on what she should do.
A Driving With Influence officer was part of the responders. The officer gave Marshall instructions for her to follow. Marshall was expected to complete the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.
Marshall did cartwheels instead, in front of the officers.
The DWI officer allowed for Marshall a lot of opportunities to complete the tests. However, she just couldn’t comprehend what the officer was telling her to do. She just kept on doing cartwheels.
After being told by the officer that this is a serious matter, Marshall just continued to laugh. The officer, once again, showed her how the tests can be completed. Marshall, however, did another cartwheel and accidentally hit the officer in the back.
By then, Marshall missed all of her opportunities and she was arrested.
Officers asked Marshall to open her mouth to check if she was chewing any food or gum. Any foreign materials could mess up the breath test. She, however, didn’t follow the commands yet again.
Marshall was charged with battery, aggravated DWI, and for an expired license plate, according to police report.
Officers who responded to the scene were “extremely patient” with Marshall. The amount of opportunities they gave her to complete those tests were almost considered as a privilege. The situation could have escalated worse due to Marshall’s drunkenness.
Marshall was detained in Metropolitan Detention Center and was released the next day.
