Wouldn’t it be perfect if all of your acne went away after high school like everyone said it would? Unfortunately, it never works like that, and we all get plagued with breakouts and blemishes occasionally.
But strangely enough, it could go deeper than a particularly sweaty workout or one too many fries hitting your chin. Where you get blemishes can say a lot about your hormones, or what could be going on in your internal organs.
Here’s what pimples on certain parts of your face could mean:
- T-zone: The t-zone is linked to the liver, which means that blemishes here could mean slight liver dysfunction.
- Nose: Swelling here means you could have high blood pressure, and it’s best to up your fruit and veggie intake if you think that’s the case.
- Eyes and ears: These areas are associated with kidney health. Dark under-eye circles and behind-the-ear breakouts could signal dehydration or kidney malfunction.
- Cheeks: Breakouts on your upper cheeks are linked to lung health, and could be due to air pollution. Blemishes on lower cheeks could be directly related to poor dental hygiene.
- Forehead: This is most likely to be caused by dehydration.
Seeing a pattern? Most of the time, your blemishes can be explained by your diet or lack of hydration.

Of course, if you just have one or two blemishes here every so often, there’s probably no cause for worry. But if these are areas where you consistently get breakouts, these causes are definitely something to consider.
