An Arkansas man was arrested after McDonald’s employees caught him trying to pour soda into a free water cup.

18-year-old Cody Morris and two of his teenage friends visited a McDonald’s drive-thru last Tuesday, where they asked an employee to grab them a few water cups.

According to a statement by the Springdale Police Department on Facebook, the trio then casually tried to walk inside the McDonald’s to sneakily fill their free cups with soda.

It wasn’t until the teens were all confronted by a McDonald’s employee for attempting to steal soda from the restaurant without paying that things got ugly.

While both of Morris’ friends apologetically poured the soda down the drain and started turning to leave, Morris’ quest for soda was too important to forget.

As the police department reports, Morris quickly grabbed his cup of soda and bolted from the restaurant to escape.

The teen then quickly jumped into his car and accidentally hit an employee who had tried to stop him from leaving the scene.

Believe it or not, the whole fiasco only got crazier when Morris smacked one of the other McDonald’s employees who had tried to pull his car keys out of the ignition.

In the end, Morris’ unstoppable need for soda won him a felony robbery charge.

“The decision to detain the alleged suspect was entirely up to the store employee,” the police department said. “We never encourage anyone to put themselves in harm’s way.”
