Back in June, 8-year-old Gabe Marshall was able to undergo a life-changing surgery to remove the tumor from his brain.

Though the procedure was successful, it left him with a large scar on the side of his head in the shape of a horseshoe. He felt incredibly self-conscious about this lasting mark, so his father did the only thing he could think to do: Get a matching tattoo so his son could rebuild his own “self-confidence.”

Josh’s incredible move of love allowed him to win a contest hosted by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and for the next six months, the father and son pair supported each other and remained strong.

Now, their relationship has become strained once more.

Gabe’s brain cancer has returned.

"Pretty much we were told that the tumor is becoming more active," Josh explained. "Because of the location that it's at, it's inoperable.”

When asked what the most difficult part of this entire journey was, Josh replied, “The not knowing is what really hurts.”

In a stunning twist, although Gabe is the one who continues to battle cancer, he has become the strength and support between the two.

Gabe knows that he just has to “keep up the prayer.” He adds, “And I’ll get through it.”

“[Gabe] is my superhero,” Josh said. “He has (shown) me what life really is about and how to cherish the most out of everything.”

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the Marshall family during this time and we pray that Gabe’s fight against cancer will be full, but quick.
