Parents who spend a lot of time with their kids are familiar with the stress that comes with raising them. So, every help and acts of kindness were very much appreciated by these parents, especially those of special needs kids.

Bonnie Kandel submitted her personal story to a Facebook page called Love What Matters. She recently experience kindness from a stranger who works at McDonalds. The stranger helped Kandel with her son who has autism and other learning disorders.

Kandel’s son, Leif, is not only a picky eater, but he also gets easily attached to things as soon as he gets fixated on them. According to Kandel, Leif found out through his friend regarding a toy from McDonalds.

According to the post, Kandel said, “I knew eventually a happy meal was in our future. So, after a few weeks we ventured out in search of the much-discussed happy meal. We ordered and asked about the coveted Team Titans toys that were displayed on a kiosk.”

However, the McDonalds ran out of the specific toy. So, Leif was obviously upset.

Kandel continued, “The lovely young woman who goes by TQ heard me and understood. She asked the manager if she could dismantle the kiosk and give Leif the toys. It took some convincing, I overheard, because this was not something they were supposed to do.”

After TQ managed to get the toys out and gave them to Leif, the boy was extremely happy and started playing for hours.

Kandel said, “McDonalds, I hope you know how lucky you are to have such a sweet woman on your staff. Someone who takes special care of their customers, someone who goes well above and beyond.”

She continued, “Thank you, TQ, at the 10th and Girls School Road McDonalds in Speedway, IN. These simple happy meal toys mean so much! Your effort was an expression of love and made a difference."

Kandel told Huffington Post, “It was a very loving and compassionate gesture. All of my sons saw this happen and I am so very grateful they had a first-hand experience with such empathy.”

Kandel admitted that the last few weeks had been really challenging for her. Being a special needs parents, the things that were unfolding in the American government concerning public education system were making her worry for her son’s future.

She added, “That hope is worth more than any toy and the world needed to see moments like this and share in the hope that one person can offer through generosity and compassion.”

Love That Matters hopes that Kandel’s story will resonate to others and do the same thing when they see someone in need of a kind assistance.
