When you are limited on time but want to get in a quick ab workout, one of the best things you can do is to choose a few exercises that target all your stomach muscles.
By targeting all the main muscles, you get a complete workout, and by targeting as many of those muscles as possible in a few exercises, you save time.
Before you design a quick ab workout, though, you need to know a bit about the muscles in your abdominal area.
In order to get tight, toned abs, you need to work all three sets of muscles in the stomach - the obliques or side muscles, rectus or upper abs and transverse or lower abs.
Along with those, you need to work your lower back muscles. Why the back muscles? They serve as a support system to your stomach, so when they are tightened and tone, they help pull your ab muscles so they are taunt.
As you work out, make sure you are isolating the muscles that are supposed to be targeted by each move. Concentrate on the muscle and pull it tight.
Feel the move in that muscle and you will get the best workout.
Putting together a quick ab workout isn’t too tough once you make sure you understand all the muscles you need to work.
Make sure you hit the upper, lower and side abdominal muscles. Don’t forget about the back muscles either.
