More than 4.6 million pounds of chicken have been recalled after health inspectors found contamination from a slew of dangerous foreign materials.
Pilgrim’s Pride, based in Texas, issued an immediate recall of a number of pre-cooked frozen chicken products after discovering they had been contaminated by a number of foreign materials, including wood, plastic, metal, and rubber.
According to the announcement, the voluntary recall affects products marked as produced between August 21, 2014 and March 1, 2016.
The affected products also contain the establishment number "EST.20728" inside the USDA inspection mark.
A few of the major frozen chicken products named in the recall include various boxes of Gold Kist Farms, Sweet Georgia Brand, and Pierce whole-grain-breaded chicken nuggets, patties, and popcorn-style fritters.
