A 26-year-old woman in Finland spends thousands of dollars a year on clothes and makeup to look more like Barbie, despite being quadriplegic.
Jasmin Britney, born Katarina Koskiranta, hasn’t been able to feel anything below the chin since her spinal cord was severed during a tragic car crash in 1998, but that hasn’t stopped her from following her dreams.
Now a student at Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Jasmin never leaves the house with anything less than perfect hair and makeup and a gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin heels.
"I don't do natural look make-up. I never leave the house without the perfect Barbie look and always in heels despite the fact I can't walk," she told The Daily Mail. "People may think it's crazy that a quadriplegic wear high heels but why not I want to look amazing."
Although Jasmin can’t walk and needs a respiratory machine to stay alive, she has an assistant who’s by her side 24/7 to bathe her, help her go to the bathroom, and style her hair and makeup.
"It is a symbol that one day a breakthrough could happen and my life could change and I want others to never give up hope," she explained. "I have been unable to move since my accident but it hasn't stopped me living life to the full and for me that means posing as the world's only quadriplegic Barbie and Britney [Spears] look alike."
Jasmin says her positive attitude comes from her many beautiful idols, including Barbie, Britney Spears, and Disney princesses.
"Being able to look like Barbie [and Disney princesses] has helped me come to terms with my accident," she said. "Barbie can do anything and Princess Jasmine, for example, inspires me because in her fairy tale she doesn't accept the future she is given and so goes and makes her own and that is what I plan to do."
