Luke Driver was locked in jail after he admitted that he sexually and emotionally abused a nine years old girl into forcing her to have sex with him, the Metro reports.
Driver, who was around fourteen or sixteen years old when the incident happened, locked the girl inside a dark cupboard full of spiders. He also admitted that he sexually assaulted the girl orally and tried to rape her twice.
Anjali Gohil, prosecutor for the case, told the court that Driver started his operation by kissing the girl on the lips. Gohil also claimed that Driver tried to put his tongue in her mouth.
Gohil said, “When she refused to do what he wanted he would lock her in an under stairs cupboard. She was scared of this because it was dark and full of spiders. She would be so scared that she would agree to do what he asked.”
Driver, who’s now 21 years old, made things worse when he orally raped the girl. He was sentenced to four years of imprisonment at Gloucester Crown Court.
Judge Jamie Tabor QC said, “The girl was still a child, unaware of the birds and bees, but frightened of you because on at least one occasion when she didn’t do what you wanted to do you locked her in a cupboard till she agreed.”
The judge continued, “You were yourself at the time a troubled boy, immature, and I accept to some degree that this was sexual experimentation. But you knew perfectly well that what you were doing was wrong and that it was particularly wicked to invite a young girl to do it.”
According to Metro, Driver’s assault and abuse on the girl happened between June 2009 and May 2011. The girl was only aged nine and ten when the incidents happened. The victim released a statement to talk about the dangerous consequences of being victimized by abuse and rape.
The victim said through an impact statement: “I only realized it was really, really wrong when I started reading things in my mum’s magazines and other peoples’ experiences. I felt sick about it. It was disgusting, it was nasty.
“I started smoking weed when I was about 12. It helped to calm me down and make me feel better. In October 2015 I was depressed and ended up taking an overdose and almost died. I did it because I wanted to die and I hated life.”
